as the summer closes and the autumn arrives the project releases its next selection with label boss frazer campbell and dark arts techno head stu crosbie. not a stranger to the label having appeared on the previous release stuart once again delivers his unique filtered sound of stripped back minimal techno with hints of trippy yet groovy influences of dark back room excursions. a real master of simplicity but exact definition of sombre sounds. the flip side presents a very different sonic description by frazer. �bleeding gums� holds broken beat kicks with rolling drums but as always carries a true sense of emotion and warmth. the ep closes with �deebling mugs� which is a production full of drive, dirty basslines and groove that will keep any dance floor moving as we wave goodbye to the summer of 2017.

black ivory was the pride of harlem and new yorks answer to the philly-fine delfonics but with infinitely more teen sex appeal. this silky-smooth 70s harmony trio featured the fabulous falsetto lead of leroy burgess (nephew of philly soul legend, thom bell) and charted four top-40 r&b singles and two top-30 lps under the guiding hand of their manager and today records driving force, patrick adams. songs like, you and i, time is love and dont turn around (which they performed live on soul train) are acknowledged sweet soul classics. and as the decade progressed and tastes changed, they successfully conquered the disco dancefloors with fave-raves like, mainline and walking downtown (saturday night) for buddah records which were liberally sampled by the hip-hop generation a true testament to the staying power of their incessantly soulful sound.

for the 4th release on lit level, we have music by dj twerkbone, bringing in some soulful vibes. love trax with his warm hazy sounds. on the flip side james henry delivers, as the name of the track suggest, a party track. last but not least is the stomping techno workout of Åmnfx.

tomoki tamuras holic trax label has long been renowned as a canny exporter of clued in house and techno. their latest continues in this regard, as tamura again calls on a series of renowned label friends to bring the heat. with names such as mr.g, satoshi tommie and tuccillo all appearing it here alongside tamura himself, it s no surprise that this 3 x vinyl record, celebrating 5 years of the label, is filled with drama and high points throughout. this is immediately obvious from mr.gs soba shioyaki. titled in homage to the label s japanese heritage, it s a dark and dexterous workout that marks another high point in a career filled with big records. deep but tough, it s a perfect of why the tech house master is so revered in underground circles. gs komorebi- puts a tough emphasis on the drums, as well as a weaving, subtle baseline that adds a further dynamic to his work here. ht24 comes from satoshi tommiie & tuccillo, two producers whose sounds are perfectly suited to holic s output. their four-track contribution starts with do it, a spiky catchy number that s exciting from the off. -what row- sees the boys inject some added funk into the equation, before to ray ups the intensity with a raw, pulverising aesthetic that takes no prisoners. wrapping up their side of the bargain is the digital only you know, a real bumper of a track with chicago-inspired synth stabs that help bring it to higher planes. it s the left to tamura himself to close the offering via ht25. a1, the appropriately named -5ive years is a techno workout of the type that s notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel. unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it s the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around he mixing deck. polyphonic six displays the producer s more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that s hard not to embrace. all things told, this is a wonderfully diverse package from tamura & co. here s to the next 5!

following excellent releases from skatebard, les crocodiles and lunar concept amongst many others, pleasure unit turn to cut the rug crew member mike misiu for their latest instalment of cool-headed modern disco. do what you need sports a metro area demeanour, with a classic vocal hook sprinkled in at opportune moments for maximum impact. the dub mix is no less satisfying, even with the famous sample rubbed out, but in fact the real pleasant surprise of this release is b2 jam love talk. with its funky midtempo 90s breakbeat and heavy-hitting piano, it s an addictive party starter that harks back to the acid jazz days while still fitting right into the here and now.

ruffien�s debut presents six songs of therapeutic ambience and enchanted basement workout. in its aesthetic, aired follows in the footsteps of modern day techno pioneers like actress or terrence dixon by creating a world in which all sounds are free-flowing but are fully under the control of the rigorous rhythmic chant of sidechain compression. the result is an ep that calmly embraces its dystopian and earthbound nature and keeps things organic and vibrant within its confines.

if psychic health s self-titled debut album took the lessons the la duo learned in the teeming clubs of berlin and melbourne, their latest lp, exclusion, look inward, a document of the duo tunneling down the studio wormhole. as such, exclusion is a remarkably dynamic effort, adeptly jumping between evocative ambience (-jamaica 88,- -ryso-) and equally expansive dance floor fair. examples of the latter, such as the album s obvious centerpiece and titular track, exclusion, document gabriel mounsey and devon steffens�s harnessing modular beast technology for peak techno utility, finding a clear thoroughfare between the soaring strings of derrick may s classic transmat releases and ostgut ton s current ebm-inflected precision. as you d expect from mounsey s background in film composition, exclusion whirls with imagery. it s a los angeles album, but focuses on raw beauty of the city at night�the lights in the distance, and the desolate downtown streets where kickdrums often waft from disused warehouses. while their debut album opened notable doors for the group, landing distribution from hard wax and featuring in the netflix series sense8, exclusion is an altogether masterful turn for psychic health, their complete studio immersion easing the listener into deeply hypnotic states.

dj octopus has been busy in the last few years, appearing often alongside steve murphy on labels like love notes, chiwax, hot haus and shall not fade. on this new double pack for house crime he goes it alone, bringing the kind of raw, off-kilter but ultimately fun vibe that the label seems to plump for. born in 86 is an absolute head driller of a track, looped up but utterly addictive, while diastemia offers a very different kind of disco-infused groove. this personality split runs throughout, ensuring there s never a dull moment diving into any of these sides of wax. check the toy is mine if you need proof that octopus knows how to throw it down.

having helped launch the sugarhouse label with his paradise forum brethren, jamie paul gets a chance to show off his talents on his debut 12inch, adding to the labels already impressive catalogue with another swathe of classy house jams with a modern twist. double g definitely sports the chops for the peak of the night, but it s also shot through with a welcome weirdness and a fuzzy warmth that should find favour with a wide range of djs. even so is a more laid back, bumping affair that matches the smooth finish of the a-side, but says something different altogether. label mate maurice jnr meanwhile serves up a remix of even so that nudges the delicate tones in a techier direction

man power has proven on many occasions to be adept at all manner of different moods within the hardware house canon, but on this occasion hes particularly focusing on creating an exotic feeling out of mechanical means. tropical bastard is a fitting title for this project for not an animal records, with the original steeped in driving patterns of rhythm and melody that approximate a flavour of far flung lands while mutating the feeling into something more club-minded. lord of the isles goes one step further with a remix that ramps the modulation up to devilishly wonky levels. tropical bastard 2inch is an entirely different beast that plays on a cinematic vision of tropical escape, but with an acid thread pulsing through it. then the frank butters remix finishes the ep off with a more submerged, but equally mischievous take.

dubtraxx is new on the scene, as is their label rhythm n vibe, but don t let that lull you into a false sense of security this is seriously heavyweight gear. soundbwoy request is especially dangerous, working plenty of dub, reggae and jungle motifs into a rugged garage structure and sounding utterly ruff in the process. towards 99 is no slouch either, albeit on a slightly housier tip than the raucous a-side. the 2000 tribute mix of next millenium meanwhile sneaks out a few of the eerie tones you d expect to hear around the time that dubstep first started to emerge.

dieter meier, heir turned conceptual artist, joined boris blank to form the electronic synth group yello in the late 70s, but it wasnt until the late 80s that they had their biggest success with the international hit the race, which was used in advertisements and (sports) programs all over the world.
combining samples and beats with meiers deep and distinctive voice, yello became experts in combining the suave with the eclectic. 1998s flag contains the hit the race next to a number of experiments on afro-cuban rhythms, such as on tied up. this first vinyl re-release since 1989 comes on 180 grams audiophile vinyl with an insert.

leonard cohen is indubitably one of the most legendary and successful singer-songwriters from the 60s. however, his label at first refused to release �various positions�, his seventh studio album, saying �look, leonard, we know you are great, but we dont know if you are any good.�
the success of the album proved them wrong, giving us one of his most beloved and arguably his most covered song �hallelujah�, along other gems such as �heart with no companion� and the gainsbourg-esque �dance me to the end of love�.

london s weekend circuit imprint returns with a 5 track ep from label owner michael wells entitled three marks of existence. the ep marks michael s debut on the label and is a signifier of his future direction as a producer - meditative, tense, unfolding electronics and monochrome ambient environments inform this release. the deepest of deep space is contained within ep opener antecedent , an almost menacing, enveloping track that engulfs us during it s 5 minutes or so of existence. verge follows and is driven by speaker puncturing taut, tribal drum programming and swirling satellite sounds, creeping further into the nexus. subtly heavy indeed. �three marks of existence mines an altogether different vein, an epic, widescreen vision of downtempo electro that is damaged, on the fritz, but containing enough melodic beauty to retain hope. souls in the machines. weekend circuit acolytes yyyy return to the scene of the crime with a monolithic remix of verge that opens the second side of this ep, showcasing their unique style and interpretation of the original mix, and following on from their previous split ep with stanislav tolkachev and their own ep �intention of mortal�. �ilmatar leaves us out and leads you into the cold night, the final transmission from the �three marks of existence signal. fierce drums punctuate the night sky and barren landscapes while somewhere deep inside, memories are remembered. equal parts thought provoking and anxious, the perfect end point for what will undoubtedly be a formative benchmark in the weekend circuit canon.

dalmata daniel s next up is a collaboration with the bristol-born �weirdo disco guy- antoni maiovvi and also a contribution of heinrich dressel who is an unavoidable column of rome s electronic music scene. maiovvi s pleasure model project is all about youth � replaced by blade runner-esque replicas. his first release under this moniker was �kendo dynamics- on 100% silk in 2016. it aimed for presenting a persuasive world of fiber optic paranoia and technoid effacement. dd006 is the next level of the concept and the first time on vinyl. the tracks are driven by the characteristic haggard drum machine s sound on side a with a melancholic or dark synth themes what becomes a dreamy melody in the �prism riot- on side b. the remix by heinrich dressel is a turn back directly into the darkness, but it is faster and more like a film soundtrack with his own characteristics, of course. the whole ep has a strong vintage mood and sound. it can be said that update 1.1 is definitely dystopian, coming from the future of our past.

they expect me to write something informative about the tracks on this ep here but i find it really difficult to express music in words. on top of it i went out last night, to club der visionõre, and i feel hungover and empty inside my head. so now im sitting here and all i can think of is, cant you just take a listen to the music?! the ep contains 5 tracks all made in the last couple of lousy summer months here in berlin in nostalgia for the better days. itÆs about house and a bit of electro, no gimmicks.

label boss, deepak sharma deliver a three-track gem on his solo debut for his imprint, hidden recordings. within annapurna lies his varied interpretations of techno vividly on display, all unique in their own ways but with a consistent, underlying gritty tone the label is famed for. he protects his house, and makes a bold statement as a soloist. from dj to curator of hidden recordings, deepak sharma has been entrenched in techno for over a decade. as the selector for hidden recordings, he began to expand the reach of his soundscape in order to appreciate all music, particularly techno. through these experiences, he had a moment where he started hearing sounds differently, and since then has been on a journey to make that sound. he s authentic to the mood and what feels right, combining raw, hypnotic rhythms that lay a foundation for an industrial monochrome minimalism with flashes of bright color while others fall deeper within the moody, darker abyss.

combining forces, audiofly and patrice bäumel draw on unique inspirations from the desert to deliver the monumental atacama on crosstown rebels. having focused solely on his own productions in the past, label boss damian lazarus steps away for the first time to complete this exceptional release with a profound re-shape. the hypnotic atacama intricately builds with a certain intensity that never drops, stimulating the senses and transporting the mind as deep, grumbling pads drift in and out of play. damian lazarus remembers the first moment i heard this track i knew there was something very special about it, not only did it strike me as a killer club record but i also felt the textures completely appropriate to my own experiences in the atacama desert. on the flip, damian changes gear as a deep, chugging beat leads the way through an impressive re-shape of the original. anthony middleton and luca saporito aka audiofly have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels and their flying circus global party brand. they met patrice during a us tour and immediately hit it off. it wasn t long after that we decided to invite him to barcelona for a session that proved to be nothing short of inspirational. internationally renowned dj and producer patrice bäumel has had a busy start to 2017 with a release on tale of us� afterlife imprint, plus remixes for sasha & policia and depeche mode amongst others. he truthfully said of the this release, it s a labour of love that came together within a few hours of jamming in the studio, unlike many collabs this one really felt like we all equally contributed to the end result.

dark entries is proud to present the deluxe 2xlp reissue of �come visit the big bigot� by severed heads, oone of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the australian post-punk independent music scene. they began in sydney in 1979, incorporating elements of �industrial� noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis. as the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style. after many line-up changes featuring garry bradbury and psychedelic guitarist simon knuckey, severed heads was the vehicle for composer tom ellard. �come visit the big bigot� was severed heads� first record to be released commercially simultaneously in australia, north america and europe in 1986. it was a prime period for this industrial dance music and bigot was a respected album that did well from the tour they did with skinny puppy that same year. quite a few people still define the band by this period. �come visit the big bigot� was made on a fostex 16 track recorder in tom�s bedroom, employing the newly acquired akai s612 sampler and roland sh-101 to create most of the drum sounds. the album signaled a new direction, flirting with the dance floor and the pop song. presenting the heads at their most cohesive, while retaining their distinctive musical stamp. tom�s vocals are harmonized, slowed down, sped up, run through fuzz boxes, backwards, drum machine rolls, sampled guitars, horn sections, and voices but with a subversive rather than malevolent intention. tape loops are more subtle and define their own space and texture. like the original australian version of the album, we�ve included a bonus disc featuring three extended remixes by sydney dj robert racic (who produced the edited 7� version of �petrol� we reissued in 2015), plus three b-sides from the �twenty deadly diseases�12� and two additional tracks from the same recording sessions.

2 blue & black splattered lps in gatefold with printed inner-sleeve. sfor someone who went from growing up in a secluded norwegian forest to producing for some of the biggest hip-hop and pop megastars on the planet, peder losnegÕrd has had quite the journey. it was through a series of remixes that lido catapulted into the sets of the most high-profile djs around the globe, capturing the ears of numerous notable tastemakers. reworking acts like disclosure and bill withers, the producer set the internet ablaze with talk of his four-note piano tag and speculation as to who was underneath the moniker. while his playful, restless musicality saw him adopt an array of aliases - but hell keep those under wraps for now

...and in the end, not a great deal is known about the spanish duo futuro. the saga begins with the discovery of a cache of test pressings deep within the shelves of a very dusty record shop near the plaza del toros de valencia. as is the case with these things there was no promo sheet or any other information outside of three clues etched into the run-out groove: futuro, jollyman, mcmlxxxvii. through deduction and reasoning it was soon realised that jollyman was a short lived italian record label that closed it s doors in 1987. there were rumours for a while that jollyman was a mafia wedding gift to a music enthused female family member, but as the journey continued it became slightly more likely that this was a tax write-off for it s owners, as the label itself was never very successful, and was more likely an afterthought rather than a full on passion project. that is not to say that there were not gems hidden within it s small catalogue, most notably from noted library musician, composer and arranger alessandro signoretti, without whose help this release would not be presently in front of you. alessandro s assistance led us to the infamous hafenklang studio in hamburg, germany. the very same studio used by boytronic to record their classic lp the continental (some of the same dx presets can easily be heard on both albums) and despite the insane amounts of musicians that have passed through those doors the owner clearly remembered the duo and finally the mysterious futuro had names: javier c rayón and raúl láynez.

too late for the italo boom, and too early for the sonido de valencia craze, the recordings of futuro have sat on master tapes since 1987 finally awaiting their much deserved audience. bordello a parigi are more than proud to present this lost late slow-mo synthesizer italo masterpiece onto the world.
